The Marketing game that teaches advisors how to build a successful advisory practice by improving their strategic advisory skills

A business and marketing simulation that will form the core focus of the program. The simulation is designed to provide individuals with practical experience in solving the problems faced in the real world without risking company assets. The program will help advisors develop and hone key management skills and learn the underlying principles behind successful marketing strategies. It will provide a practical grounding to marketing theory and provide individuals with the opportunity to actually plot their products, competitors and positioning using selected strategic marketing tools such as the product life cycle, Boston matrix and competitive mapping. The program will include 3 features:

1. Business Olympics Simulation: In the Business Olympics simulation, participants play the part of a Business Advisor called in to help a client launch a new product. They are responsible for all the marketing, advertising and production decisions when launching a new brand of beer. As in the real world, constantly changing variables require the marketing plan to be flexible so that changes in the strategy of competitors can be matched. Candidates will have access to case studies, market research, financial reports and a comprehensive multimedia report. The hands-on experience gained helps them develop and improve their business and strategic planning skills. The comprehensive interactive learning tool deals with true-to-life scenarios. Areas of pricing, target markets, analysis of financial reports and market research are covered in a way that involves the participants and conveys vital skills.

2. Marketing Theory:  During the program we will discuss various aspects of marketing theory that relate to the case study or the business. We will demonstrate the theory using practical examples. We will then relate the theory to the simulation exercise and to the individuals’ business.

3. Marketing & Advisory Exercises: The marketing & Advisory exercises provide the opportunity for candidates to practically use the theory and plot their product and marketing positions from the simulation. These exercises are designed to build confidence so that advisors can take these theoretical strategic tools and practically implement them in their business after the training course.
